Workspaces Overview
Understanding the POS and Back Office workspaces in Diinr.
Understanding Workspaces
Diinr utilizes a workspace model to provide a tailored experience for different user roles and tasks. There are two primary workspaces:
- Back Office Workspace: Designed for administrative, strategic, and configuration tasks.
- Point of Sale (POS) Workspace: Designed for front-of-house, operational tasks like taking orders and managing the till.
This separation ensures that users have access to the tools and information relevant to their current tasks, reducing clutter and improving efficiency.
Back Office Workspace
The Back Office workspace is where you manage the core settings and data of your restaurant. This includes:
- Menu Management: Creating, editing, and organizing items, variants, and menus.
- Reports: Accessing detailed sales, transaction, and staff reports.
- Settings: Configuring restaurant-wide settings, such as floor plans, printers, and user permissions.
- Customer Management: Managing customer profiles and marketing campaigns.
This workspace is typically used by owners, managers, and administrators.
Point of Sale (POS) Workspace
The POS workspace is optimized for daily operations and customer interactions. It provides a streamlined interface for:
- Taking Orders: Quickly adding items to orders, applying discounts, and processing payments.
- Table Management: Overseeing table statuses and managing customer seating.
- Kitchen View: Monitoring order progress and kitchen operations.
- Till Operations: Opening and closing the till, and managing cash floats.
This workspace is primarily used by staff members and cashiers.
Switching Between Workspaces
Admin users have the flexibility to switch between the Back Office and POS workspaces. This is done via a dedicated Workspace Switcher in the sidebar. Staff users will typically be directed straight to the POS workspace upon login, providing them with a focused interface.
Visual Indicators:
- The Back Office workspace is often represented by a Lock icon or a similar administrative symbol, signifying secure and controlled access to settings.
- The Point of Sale workspace is often represented by an Open Lock icon or a similar operational symbol, indicating an active and ready-to-use interface for transactions.
